The Superior Taste Award is hosted by the International Food Evaluation Institute (iTi). Twice a year, a panel of judges consisting of the most influential professional chefs and beverage experts in Europe conducts blind testing to evaluate products solely based on their sensory quality (taste, smell, visual, texture), without being influenced by brand, packaging, or marketing. Known as the "Oscar Award" or "Michelin Guide" in the food and beverage industry, it is one of the globally recognized highest certification marks for flavor quality.

Evaluation Process and Scientificity

Strict blind testing: All participating products are presented anonymously and randomly with no brand logos.

  Authoritative jury:

  • The judges are composed of members from several top chef associations in Europe, such as the French Chef Association and the Wine Tasting Association.
  • They are mostly Michelin starred restaurant chefs, renowned sommeliers, or food technology experts, possessing extremely precise sensory recognition abilities.

Systematic scoring: The evaluation is based on the following five sensory indicators, with a maximum score of 100 points for each, including visual, olfactory, texture/taste, flavor, and aftertaste.

The awards are divided into three levels:

star rating score range Representative significance commonly known as
70% - 80% Excellent flavor One Star Award: Possessing a 'delightful flavor'
80% - 90% Outstanding flavor Two Star Award: Possessing a 'particularly distinctive flavor'
More than 90% Extraordinary flavor Samsung Award (highest honor): Possessing "stunning flavor"

Misconception:Only the Samsung Award has value

  fact:

For most brands, a one star award is sufficient to establish market differentiation

The Samsung Award is extremely difficult to obtain (usually requiring years of polishing and uniqueness)

The One Star Award is a more pragmatic and sustainable pursuit of quality goals

Misconception:The One Star Award is just a participation award

  fact:

About 30% of the participating products each year do not receive any star rating

The One Star Award represents that the product has defeated a significant proportion of competitors worldwide

If the rating does not reach 70%, there will be no award. The threshold does exist

Aftertaste - Butter Butterfly Crispy ->Samsung Award (highest honor)

Aftertaste - butter egg roll/seaweed meat floss Phoenix roll/big butterfly crisp (butterfly type)/almond kernel crisp ->one star award
